INTRODUCTION

About Katherine Goff

I retired from Adams 12 Five Stars Schools after working from 1988 to 2013. During those years I worked as a 1st and a 3rd grade teacher. I also worked as an Elementary School Computer Lab instructor and managed the Horizon High School computer labs. For ten years I taught at McElwain Elementary School where over 90% of the students qualify for free and reduced lunch.  I taught my last year at the Studio School which is just a few blocks from where I live.

I earned my B.A. from St. John’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I went back to college after my second son was born and earned my M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction for Multi-cultural Teacher Education from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. By the time my children were in middle school, I had moved to Colorado and I completed my Ph. D. from the University of Colorado at Denver. My degree was in Educational Leadership and Innovation.

My education and work experience have given me the skills I need to appreciate and work with a diverse population. I also learned to manage my time well in order to balance family, school,  and my career.

Being retired has given me more time to volunteer in Northglenn and to get to know more people in my community. I have volunteered at Noel Northglenn and have wrapped donated gifts with the Northglenn Police Department. I was a member of the Citizen Advisory Group for the new Rec Center and the Citizen’s Affairs Board. I am currently the Northglenn representative for Colorado Communities for Climate Action and the President of this organization. I have been the ex officio member of the Diversity, Inclusivity, and Social Equity Board in Northglenn since its inception.

My husband and I have lived in Northglenn for 10 years. We love to garden and walk our neighborhood and around Webster Lake. I also love to knit and I do enjoy making gifts for family and friends. My latest passion is Pickleball and I love to play at the Northglenn Rec Center.
